Working towards a Feline CKD-free future is our passion!
MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
All of our board members are passionate about finding a cure for feline kidney disease, and each brings a unique set of skills to our organization. All are volunteers; they do not receive compensation for their services.
Lisa Willson, J.D., President: Ms. Willson was inspired to start Foundation for Feline Renal Research after losing her beloved feline companion Bambi to chronic kidney disease. An attorney and longtime animal welfare advocate, she handles many of the day to day operations of the Foundation, including business and contractual matters, policy compliance and event planning.
Ronald Willson, M.D., Vice-President and Medical Director: Dr. Willson is a physician and longtime animal welfare advocate who has experienced the loss of several feline family members to renal disease. His medical expertise, and experience as an Investigator and a Principal Investigator on numerous research studies is invaluable in creating feasibility studies to analyze and assess the merits of potential research projects, monitoring ongoing projects, and designing informative and understandable media presentations to help raise public awareness of feline kidney disease.
Carol Sutherland, Secretary/Treasurer: Ms. Sutherland is an accomplished fundraiser who is committed to raising awareness of feline kidney disease. In addition to fundraising, she also applies her financial management skills to ensure that the funds entrusted to us by the public are used in the most efficient and effective manner possible to carry out our mission.
Richard Gurney: Mr. Gurney is an artist, and an innovative thinker, with an innate talent for charitable work. He has contributed his time and creative skills to the Foundation in a variety of areas, including fundraising strategy, event planning, and social networking.
Maxine E. Hirsch, D. Ed.: Ms. Hirsch is a creative thinker, and an experienced educator. Her abilities as an instructor, coupled with her communications skills have been of great assistance in creating literature and presentations that enable us to communicate effectively with the public, thereby raising awareness of feline renal disease. (It is with great sadness that we announce that Maxine has passed away. We will always be grateful to her for her kindness and generosity, and for her important contributions to the cause.)
